A learning or work experience that changed meIn my first year with CHC I learned a lot about sustainable gardening, and the importance of fresh, unprocessed foods in a persons diet. Through further education on different topics surrounding the issue of healthy food, and participation in local good-food initiatives I’ve become dedicated to educating others on the harmful effects of bad foods, sugars, and chemicals, and the positive effects of a whole foods diet.

Why did you choose to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA with College Health Corps?  I chose to continue my service with AmeriCorps VISTA and the College Health Corps because I believe that change happens in a lot of different ways, but nothing changes if you don’t work for it. I would like to continue making my community a healthier place, and a more desirable living environment, and I am able to work towards those goals as a VISTA as well as expand my knowledge base and have an opportunity to connect with other community members who are passionate about similar ideas.
