The College Health Corps is an AmeriCorps*VISTA program created by Minnesota Campus Compact. VISTAs are national service members who dedicate one year toward alleviating poverty in the United States. The College Health Corps is a cohort of VISTA members who are placed at community- and campus-based sites throughout the state of Minnesota, each dedicated to reducing health disparities and improving the health of low-income people.
Our program aims to improve health equity and overall health status in Minnesota by looking at three areas along the spectrum of health determinants: healthcare access, health literacy, and upstream social determinants of health.
Role of Higher Education Institutions
Minnesota Campus Compact is committed to the collective power of higher education institutions and communities to develop creative solutions to pressing public issues. The College Health Corps was created to leverage this power by creating or expanding campus-community partnerships to improve health in the state.
